It been quite awhile since I have spent some time in this space.. Yet I have longed to reconnect… Its all a matter of just doing it! So here I am… and I plan on spending more time here. I’m so excited and have so much to share!
It’s been quite a year so far as its now getting closer to the end. My biggest accomplishment this year was becoming a Kundalini Yoga teacher. This has changed my life! I have learned so much but the proof is in the pudding. With daily practice for over a year now, I have seen so many subtle and not so subtle changes occur in my world and in myself. I find myself more centered, calmer, more intuitive, clearer, more patient, and stronger. I’ve become more flexible on and off the mat and more resilient to the curve balls life throws at us. At times digging deep within my soul has been painful, but shedding light upon the darkness has been rewarding. Mostly I feel a new found radiance around me, and a deep reverence within me.
What I find to be very interesting is that daily ritual has seemed to disappear in our modern world. I went for years with it never occurring to me. I wasn’t raised with this type of consciousness, other than maybe going to church on Sunday as a child. I have always been interested in ancient cultures, metaphysics, theology, mythology, and philosophy, but hadn’t really put anything into a real practice. I spent a lot of time this year traveling to ancient cultures in Southeast Asia. Its amazing how intact they are with the ways of the past: awareness and ritual that have existed for centuries. They have awareness of something greater than ourselves and the hustle and bustle of our modern world.
Its funny to me how speaking of “Creator”, whatever that may be to you, is now a hush, hush… and the idea of prayer is some religious turn off for many. Yet since the beginning of time, this is where we have found strength, peace, and expansion. Maybe I “shouldn’t” talk of these “hush, hush” things on a public blog being a public figure, but I say….. why not? Im not speaking from a religious place, not trying to convince anyone of anything. I just want to raise the question of why the idea of anything beyond what we can see, touch, taste, smell, and hear become so taboo? In my opinion, we are more than mere physical being, we have spirit and soul, so why not connect and communicate with that part inside ourselves more? Why not recognize this sacred space in our world and share it? Don’t we need it more now than ever?
Today we have more demands than ever, and certainly more and more information overload. It can be overwhelming but simultaneusly give us access to anything we want. Everything we want or need is available to us. Seek and you will find. But what is it we are seeking and where are we focusing our attention? I can say by experience that getting still within, realizing my own infinity, has expanded my awareness and capacity. I also know that we are all capable of shifting our experience from the finite to the infinite within. This takes commitment, character, dignity, divinity, grace, and sacrifice, which creates true happiness. My journey has only just begun but will continue and I look forward to sharing my journey with you.
In the mean time, try some long deep breathing meditation:
Close your eyes and focus upward at your third eye, the seat of your soul, and just breath. Focus on your gratitude and expansiveness, and let everything else slip away. Start with even 5 minutes each morning when you wake, then increase over time. Breath is our connection to life and spirit. The # 1 thing we can do to improve our consciousness is to breath consciously throughout our day. Its the most simple thing, but something we all forget to do, yet has the power to shift our emotions tremendously.
Love & Light,
